Rennhistory/racing history |
The John Golder special competed in VSCC racing events in the 1960`s & 70`s. It was not a “front running” car but achieved success in various races and John`s wife won the VSCC ladies trophy with it in the early seventies.
It crashed heavily at VSCC Silverstone in 1974, and was then off the road until I purchased it in August 2012. John had repaired the damage to the front of the chassis by grafting on the front chassis legs from another Riley Falcon. He retained the original chassis number by keeping intact the engine mounts, which is where the chassis number is stamped. |
Information |
It has a shortened Riley Falcon chassis with engine & gearbox moved back. All major components are from a 1936 Riley Falcon. The chassis has been substantially lightened. Engine spec is rebuilt to a race as follows: New Arrow con rods and shell big end bearings. The original, crack detected crank, high compression Omega pistons, modified camshafts, (better than Sprite spec), lightened flywheel with no clutch, polished & ported head, 4 branch tubular exhaust manifold, twin SU`s, belt driven water pump and dynamo, full flow oil filter system.
It has a light, aluminium on ash frame body, aero screens & cycle wings. |
